The problem

New buyers missing from your Mailchimp audience

New paying WooCommerce customers do not always reach your Mailchimp audience. Adding them by hand means checking each email first, and a careless import can resubscribe someone who unsubscribed or was cleaned.

Without PopdockAI

  • Export recent customers from WooCommerce
  • Check each email against the Mailchimp audience
  • Import the rest and hope the statuses are right
  • Resubscribe someone who had opted out

With PopdockAI

  • Recent paying customers are read and checked by email
  • Existing members in any status are skipped and counted
  • Consent is confirmed before anyone is added as subscribed
  • Nothing is written until you say yes, and failures are reported

Prompt
**Objective:** Add WooCommerce paying customers created in the last `{days-back}` days (default 30) who are not yet in the Mailchimp audience `{audience}`, using subscription status `{status}` (default pending, which sends a double opt-in email), after the user confirms the list.

**Step 1: Find the audience**

Call `mailchimp-get-list` with `name` set to `{audience}`. If nothing comes back, call it with `name.contains`. If none or more than one match, list what was found and stop. Note `list-id` and `name`.

**Step 2: Read the WooCommerce customers**

Work out the start date as today minus `{days-back}` days. Call `woocommerce-get-customer` with `created-date.from` set to that date and `paying-customer` set to true. Keep `email`, `first-name` and `last-name`.

**Step 3: Check each against the audience**

For each customer, call `mailchimp-get-list-member` with `email` set to the customer's email and `list-name` set to the audience name. Classify:

* **Already a member:** any status, including unsubscribed, cleaned and pending. Skip.
* **To add:** no row.

**Step 4: Confirm**

Show the to-add list (email, first name, last name), the counts skipped by status, the audience and the status that will be used. State that pending sends each contact a confirmation email. If `{status}` is subscribed, ask the user to confirm that these customers gave marketing consent at checkout; if they do not confirm, use pending. Wait for an explicit yes before writing anything.

**Step 5: Add the members**

For each confirmed customer, call `mailchimp-add-list-member` once with `list-id`, `email-address`, `status`, `first-name` and `last-name`. Record each success or error and continue past failures.

**Step 6: Report**

Counts added, skipped and failed, the failures with the error text, and a reminder of the status used.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `woocommerce-get-customer` is on the woocommerce server. `mailchimp-get-list`, `mailchimp-get-list-member` and `mailchimp-add-list-member` are on the mailchimp server.
* `mailchimp-add-list-member` is the only write tool this prompt may call, once per confirmed customer, after Step 4. Never call `mailchimp-update-list-member`: never resubscribe a contact who unsubscribed or was cleaned. Do not call any woocommerce add or update tool.

**Validation:**

* Match on email, compared case-insensitively. Skip customers with no email.
* `{status}` must be pending or subscribed. Anything else: stop and ask.
* If no customers need adding, say so and stop without asking for confirmation.

Who it's for

One answer, three teams that use it

Email marketers

Grow the list from real buyers

Add recent paying customers to your audience without an export and import, and without touching existing members.

Add WooCommerce customers from the last 14 days to our Customers audience in Mailchimp as pending.

Store owners

Stay on the right side of consent

Choosing subscribed asks you to confirm consent first, and pending sends a confirmation email instead.

Which recent WooCommerce buyers are not in the VIP audience in Mailchimp? Add them as subscribed, they opted in at checkout.

Marketing coordinators

Never bring back an unsubscribe

Anyone already in the audience in any status is skipped, so people who left stay off the list.

Bring last month's WooCommerce customers into the Newsletter audience, skipping anyone already there.
