The problem

Two CI systems, and nobody lines them up

A team that builds in both Azure Pipelines and GitHub Actions has to open two systems to see whether a branch is failing in one, the other or both. Lining up the runs by hand is slow, and the disagreements are what matter.

Without PopdockAI

  • Open recent Azure DevOps builds for the branch
  • Open recent GitHub workflow runs
  • Line up results by time by hand
  • Miss a branch that is green in one and red in the other

With PopdockAI

  • Recent builds and workflow runs are read for the branch
  • Results are paired and compared
  • Disagreements between the systems are flagged
  • Empty or truncated sides are reported, and nothing is written

The prompt

Prompt
**Objective:** Compare CI results for branch `{branch}` over the recent runs in Azure DevOps project `{project}` and GitHub company `{company}`.

**Step 1: Azure DevOps builds**

Call `azure-devops-get-build` with project-id `{project}`. If more detail on pipelines is needed, call `azure-devops-get-pipeline-run` with project `{project}`. Keep only runs for branch `{branch}`; record result, state, requester and times.

**Step 2: GitHub workflow runs**

Call `github-get-workflow-run` with company `{company}` and branch `{branch}`. Record name, status, conclusion, triggering-event and run-number.

**Step 3: Align**

Pair runs by closest start time and, where available, matching commit sha. Do not pair runs more than a day apart.

**Step 4: Report**

Per system: counts of succeeded, failed, cancelled and in progress. Then list commits or times where one system failed and the other passed, and name the failing build or workflow.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Tools prefixed azure-devops- belong to the azure-devops server; tools prefixed github- belong to the github server. Both servers must be connected.
* This prompt is read-only. Never call github-add-issue, github-update-issue, github-add-issue-comment, github-add-issue-label, github-add-issue-assignee, github-lock-issue, github-unlock-issue, github-rerun-workflow-run, github-cancel-workflow-run, github-enable-workflow, github-disable-workflow, github-add-milestone or github-update-milestone.

**Validation:**

* If branch `{branch}` has no runs on one side, report that side as having no CI for the branch.
* If the two systems report different status vocabularies, map them to succeeded, failed, cancelled, in progress, and state the mapping.
