The problem

Logging time after the fact leads to double booking

Logging time in Jira after the fact is where double booking happens: you forget whether you logged yesterday, or log against an issue closed last week. Fixing a wrong worklog later is more work than logging it once.

Without PopdockAI

  • Find the issue and check it is still open
  • Scroll existing worklogs for the same day
  • Convert the time into Jira's format
  • Fix duplicate entries later

With PopdockAI

  • The issue is confirmed, with a question first if it is closed
  • Time already logged and same day entries are shown
  • Time is logged once in Jira's own duration format
  • The new entry and updated total are read back

Prompt
**Objective:** Log `{time-spent}` of work against the Jira issue `{issue-key}`, dated `{started-date}`, with the note `{comment}`.

**Step 1: Confirm the issue exists**

Call `jira-get-issue` with issue-key set to {issue-key}. If nothing comes back, stop. Note the summary and status. If the status reads as Done, Closed or Resolved, say so and ask whether to log time against a closed issue before continuing.

**Step 2: Resolve the numeric issue id**

Call `jira-get-issue-watcher` with issue-key set to {issue-key} and read issue-id. `jira-add-issue-worklog` will not accept the key. If no rows come back, report that the id could not be resolved and stop.

**Step 3: Check what is already there**

Call `jira-get-issue-worklog` with issue-id set to the id from Step 2. Show the existing entries and the total. If an entry already exists for the same author on {started-date}, point it out and ask whether this is a duplicate before writing.

**Step 4: Confirm**

Show the issue key, its summary, the time to log, the date and the note. Ask for confirmation. Do not proceed without it.

**Step 5: Write**

Call `jira-add-issue-worklog` ONCE with issue-id, time-spent, started-date, started-time where given, and comment. Leave adjust-estimate and new-estimate alone unless the user explicitly asked to change the remaining estimate.

**Step 6: Confirm**

Call `jira-get-issue-worklog` again for the same issue id and report the new entry and the new total.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `jira-add-issue-worklog` is the only write tool this prompt may call, once, after confirmation.
* Do NOT call `jira-update-issue` to change status after logging time.
* Pass {time-spent} through in Jira's own format, such as 3h or 1d 2h. Do not convert it.

**Validation:**

* If {time-spent} is missing or is not a Jira duration, ask for it and stop.
* If {started-date} is omitted, say which date you are logging against before Step 4.
* If Step 5 fails because time tracking is disabled, report that and do not retry.
