The problem

Failed pipelines raise duplicate incidents or none at all

Failed pipeline runs go unreported when nobody checks whether ServiceNow already has an incident for them. Operations either raise duplicates or miss failures altogether, because the two systems are checked separately.

Without PopdockAI

  • List failed runs in Azure DevOps
  • Search ServiceNow for a matching incident or alert
  • Decide by hand which failures are known
  • Raise a duplicate or miss a failure

With PopdockAI

  • Failed pipeline runs in the window are listed
  • ServiceNow is searched for an incident or alert for each
  • Each failure is marked known or with no incident
  • It suggests where an incident is needed but never raises one

Prompt
**Objective:** Find failed pipeline runs in Azure DevOps project `{project}` from the last `{lookback-days}` days (default 7) and show which ones already have a ServiceNow incident or alert and which do not.

**Step 1: Failed runs (azure-devops server)**

Call `azure-devops-get-pipeline-run` with `project` = {project} and `result` = failed. If `{pipeline-name}` is given, pass it as `pipeline-name`. Keep runs whose `created-date` is within the lookback. Group by `pipeline-name`.

**Step 2: Incidents and alerts (servicenow server)**

For each pipeline name call `servicenow-get-incident` with `short-description.contains` = the pipeline name and `opened.from` = lookback start. Then call `servicenow-get-alert` with `created.from` = lookback start and look for the pipeline name in `description` or `node`.

**Step 3: Report**

A table per pipeline: failed run count, latest failure time and `url`, matching incident or alert `number` and `state`, or "no ServiceNow record". End with a list of pipelines that fail repeatedly with no record.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `azure-devops-get-pipeline-run` is on the azure-devops server. `servicenow-get-incident` and `servicenow-get-alert` are on the servicenow server.
* Read-only. Do NOT call `servicenow-add-incident`, `servicenow-add-alert` or any update tool. Suggest raising an incident but do not do it.

**Validation:**

* If there are no failed runs, report that and stop.
* If the `result` value is rejected, call the tool without it and filter on the returned `result` field.

Who it's for

One answer, three teams that use it

Operations engineers

Avoid duplicate incidents

See which failed runs already have an incident before you raise a new one.

Which failed pipeline runs in Fabrikam Platform from the last 24 hours have no ServiceNow incident?

Site reliability engineers

Make sure no failure goes unreported

Failures with nothing recorded are listed with a suggestion, so they can be raised properly.

Match failed Azure DevOps runs from this week with ServiceNow incidents and alerts.

Incident managers

Link pipeline failures to open incidents

Known failures are tied to their incident, so updates go to the right record.

Which ServiceNow incidents relate to failed runs in the Northwind Commerce project over the last 7 days?
