The problem

An unsubscribe request missed in one audience

When someone asks to stop receiving email, you must find every audience they are in and every store record that holds marketing consent. Miss one and they keep getting mail, search loosely and you might unsubscribe someone else.

Without PopdockAI

  • Search every audience for the address
  • Find store customer records with consent
  • Update each one by hand
  • Miss one and the person keeps getting mail

With PopdockAI

  • Every membership and store record for the exact address is found
  • You see a table of what will change first
  • Memberships are unsubscribed and store consent withdrawn
  • Every record is read back, and nothing else changes

Prompt
**Objective:** Unsubscribe `{email-address}` from the audience {list-name} (default every audience it belongs to), record the reason {reason} (default "Requested by contact"), and withdraw its e-commerce marketing consent.

**Step 1: Find the memberships**

Call `mailchimp-get-list-member` with `email` set to the address, and `list-name` if one was given. For each membership note list-name, list-id and status. Memberships already `unsubscribed` or `cleaned` need no change.

**Step 2: Find store customers**

Call `mailchimp-get-customer` with `email` set to the address. Note each record's customer-id, store-id and opt-in-status. Records with opt-in-status false need no change.

**Step 3: Confirm**

Show the user a table of planned changes: audience or store, current status, new status. Ask them to confirm and wait for the answer. If nothing needs changing, say so and stop.

**Step 4: Act**

Only after the user confirms:

* For each membership to change, call `mailchimp-update-list-member` with `member-id` set to the email address, `list-id`, `status` set to `unsubscribed` and `unsubscribe-reason` set to the reason.
* For each customer to change, call `mailchimp-update-customer` with `customer-id`, `store-id` and `opt-in-status` set to false.

If a call fails, carry on with the rest and report the failure.

**Step 5: Verify**

Call `mailchimp-get-list-member` and `mailchimp-get-customer` again with the address and report the final status of each record, in the same table as Step 3.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Change only the subscription status, the unsubscribe reason and opt-in-status. Do not pass a name, a new email address, VIP or email type.
* Never set a status other than `unsubscribed`, and never re-subscribe anyone.
* Do not call `mailchimp-add-list-member`, `mailchimp-add-segment-member`, `mailchimp-add-customer` or any other write tool.
* Use the exact `email` filter, never `email.contains`, so no other contact is touched.

**Validation:**

* If the address is not found in any audience or store, say so and ask the user to check the spelling. Do not guess.
* If a list-name was given and the address is not in it, say which audiences it is in and stop.
