The problem

A jump in unsubscribes with no clear cause

A spike in unsubscribes tells you something is wrong, but not what. Working out whether it was one campaign, one list or sending too often means matching opt-outs to campaigns, reading free-text reasons and checking source lists.

Without PopdockAI

  • Export unsubscribes and match them to campaigns
  • Read every free-text reason
  • Check which lists people came from
  • Guess at the cause

With PopdockAI

  • Each unsubscribe is tied to its campaign with a rate
  • Reasons are grouped into themes, with a few quoted
  • Source lists are checked for a sample of unsubscribers
  • Up to three recommendations, and nothing is changed

Prompt
**Objective:** Review unsubscribes from the last `{lookback-days}` days (default 30) and explain what is driving them.

**Step 1: Pull the unsubscribes**

Compute the start date as today minus `{lookback-days}` days (30 if blank). Call `constant-contact-get-campaign-unsubscribe` with `created-date.from` set to that date.

**Step 2: Tie them to campaigns**

Group the unsubscribes by campaign-id. Call `constant-contact-get-campaign` with `last-sent-date.from` set to the same start date to get each campaign's name, sends and opt-outs. For each campaign compute the unsubscribe rate as opt-outs / (sends - bounces).

**Step 3: Read the reasons**

Group the reason values. Where reasons are free text, cluster them into themes (too frequent, not relevant, never signed up, other) and count each theme. Quote up to three representative reasons verbatim.

**Step 4: Check the audience**

For up to 15 unsubscribed contacts, call `constant-contact-get-contact-list-member` with `email-address` and count which lists they belonged to. A list that shows up far more than others is the likely source.

**Step 5: Report**

1. Total unsubscribes and the period.
2. A table of campaigns with the most unsubscribes: name, last sent date, unsubscribes, unsubscribe rate.
3. Reasons by theme with counts, plus the quoted examples.
4. Lists most associated with unsubscribes.
5. Up to three recommendations (send less often to list X, re-check the opt-in source of list Y), each tied to a finding above.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* This is read-only. Do not call `constant-contact-update-contact`, `constant-contact-add-contact` or any other add or update tool.
* Never suggest re-subscribing a contact who unsubscribed.

**Validation:**

* If there are no unsubscribes in the period, say so.
* If no reasons were recorded, say so and base the analysis on campaigns and lists only.
