Sync BugHerd task and GitHub issue status
Sync the status of BugHerd tasks in Fabrikam Site with their GitHub issues in fabrikam/site.
3 linked pairs have drifted. Here is what I propose: - Task 77: set to done in BugHerd, comment that issue 190 closed on 2026-10-04 - Task 81: set to done in BugHerd, comment that issue 197 closed on 2026-10-06 - Issue 203: comment that task 69 is done, then close it on GitHub Which rows should I apply?

The problem

Bulk status fixes risk closing the wrong item

Linked BugHerd tasks and GitHub issues fall out of step all the time. Fixing them means closing issues and marking tasks done one by one with a note on each, and doing it in bulk by hand risks closing the wrong item.

Without PopdockAI

  • Find pairs where only one side is finished
  • Close GitHub issues one by one
  • Mark BugHerd tasks done and add a note
  • Close the wrong item when working in bulk

With PopdockAI

  • Pairs where only one side is finished are found
  • Each proposed change appears in one table
  • Only the rows you approve are applied, with a comment
  • Nothing is reopened, titles and labels are left alone

Prompt
**Objective:** Bring linked items in the BugHerd project `{project-name}` and the GitHub repository `{repository}` back in step.

How the two systems are linked: a BugHerd task created from a GitHub issue carries "<repository>#<issue number>" in its external-id. A GitHub issue created from BugHerd starts its title with "[BugHerd <project name> #<task number>]".

**Step 1: Find the drifted pairs**

Call `bugherd-get-projects` with `name.contains` set to `{project-name}`. If nothing matches, say so and stop. If several match, list their names and project-id values and ask which one; do not guess. Then read the links as the reconcile job does: `bugherd-get-tasks` and `bugherd-get-archived-tasks` with `project-id` (external-id starting "{repository}#"), and `github-get-issue` with `company` and `title.contains` "[BugHerd". Keep the pairs where exactly one side is finished.

**Step 2: Propose**

* Closed on GitHub, open in BugHerd: set the task's status to done and comment "GitHub issue #<number> was closed on <closed-date>; please check on the site."
* Done in BugHerd, open on GitHub: close the issue and comment "BugHerd task #<task number> is done."

Show every proposal in one table and ask which rows to apply.

**Step 3: Apply approved rows**

* BugHerd: call `bugherd-update-task` once with `project-id`, `task-id` and `status` done, then `bugherd-add-comment` once.
* GitHub: call `github-add-issue-comment` once with `company`, `issue-number` and `body`, then `github-update-issue` once with `company`, `issue-number` and `state` closed.

**Step 4: Report**

What was changed on each side and anything that failed, with the error.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Tools named bugherd-... are on the bugherd MCP server; tools named github-... are on the github MCP server. Every GitHub tool takes the repository as its `company` parameter. If either set of tools is missing, say which server is not connected and stop.
* The only write tools this prompt may call are `bugherd-update-task`, `bugherd-add-comment`, `github-add-issue-comment` and `github-update-issue` (state only), and only for approved rows.
* Never reopen anything; never change titles, labels, assignees or milestones.

**Validation:**

* If nothing has drifted, say so and stop.
* If one update fails, report it and carry on with the other rows.
