The problem

Task updates go to the wrong task or lose their file

Posting a progress note in BugHerd means opening the project, finding the task by number, typing the comment and uploading any file separately. Files that live at a link have to be downloaded and uploaded again, and notes end up on the wrong task.

Without PopdockAI

  • Open the right BugHerd project and hunt for the task number
  • Check the feedback inbox when the task is not on the board
  • Download the file from its link and upload it again
  • Risk posting the note on the wrong task

With PopdockAI

  • The project and task are matched for you, board or inbox
  • The file is attached straight from its link
  • You see the task title and the update and confirm first
  • Status, severity and assignee are never touched

Prompt
**Objective:** Add the comment `{comment}` to task `{task-number}` in the BugHerd project `{project-name}`, and attach the file at `{file-url}` when given.

**Step 1: Find the project**

Call `bugherd-get-projects` with `name.contains` set to `{project-name}`. If nothing matches, say so and stop. If more than one project matches, list their names and project-id values and ask which one is meant; do not guess. Use the matching project's project-id in every later call.

**Step 2: Find the task**

Call `bugherd-get-tasks` with `project-id` and `task-number`. If nothing comes back, try `bugherd-get-feedback` with the same filters. Take the task-id: the write tools need it, not the task number.

**Step 3: Confirm, then write**

Show the task title and what will be added, and wait for an explicit yes. Then:

* Call `bugherd-add-comment` once with `project-id`, `task-id` and `comment`.
* If `{file-url}` is given, call `bugherd-add-attachment-from-url` once with `project-id`, `task-id`, `url` and a `file-name` taken from the last part of the URL path (ask if the URL has no file name).

**Step 4: Report**

Confirm the comment, and give the attachment-id and download-url when a file was attached.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* The only write tools this prompt may call are `bugherd-add-comment` and `bugherd-add-attachment-from-url`, each at most once.
* Do not change the task's status, severity or assignee.

**Validation:**

* If the task cannot be found, say so and stop.

Who it's for

One answer, three teams that use it

Web developers

Log progress without leaving your editor

Tell the client a fix is on staging with a screenshot attached, in one message, without opening BugHerd and digging for the task.

Comment on task 58 in the Fabrikam Shop BugHerd project that the checkout fix is on staging, and attach https://files.fabrikam.com/qa/checkout.png

Project managers

Keep clients informed on the right task

Post status notes on client tasks by number, so the update lands where the client is looking and nothing else on the task changes.

Add a note to task 132 in the Northwind Traders site project saying we expect the fix in Thursday's release.

QA testers

Attach retest evidence as you go

Add retest results and a screenshot link to the task you just checked, so developers see the evidence without asking for it.

On task 77 in the Contoso Portal BugHerd project, add that the form still fails on Safari, with https://files.contoso.com/qa/safari-form.png attached.

How it works

What PopdockAI does when you ask

You name the task and say what to add, and your AI assistant finds it in BugHerd. Nothing is posted until you have seen the task title and the update and said yes.

01

Ask

You name the project, the task number, your comment and optionally a file link.

Your AI tool

02

Find

It matches the project and finds the task on the board or in the feedback inbox.
