The problem

Real faults buried under alert noise

A morning of unacknowledged alerts means opening each one, working out its configuration item and checking whether a change explains it. Real production faults get buried under repeated warnings and expected noise from planned work.

Without PopdockAI

  • Open each alert one by one
  • Work out which CI it belongs to
  • Check for a change window that explains it
  • Miss the real fault in the noise

With PopdockAI

  • Open, unacknowledged alerts are grouped by CI or node
  • Each CI's environment and support group are checked
  • Covering change windows and maintenance are noted
  • Read only, with alerts that should become incidents listed

Prompt
**Objective:** Triage the unacknowledged open alerts raised in the last `{lookback-days}` days (default 1), optionally only severity `{severity}`.

**Step 1: Pull the alerts**

Call `servicenow-get-alert` with acknowledged false, state Open, created.from today minus `{lookback-days}` days, severity `{severity}` if given, and max-records 500.

**Step 2: Group**

Group by configuration-item, or by node when configuration-item is empty. Per group note the count, highest severity, sources, metric names, first and last event time, and whether any alert already has a task.

**Step 3: Context per group**

* Call `servicenow-get-configuration-item` with name set to the CI to get environment and support-group.
* Call `servicenow-get-ci-affected` with configuration-item set to the CI; if a CHG task is found, read it with `servicenow-get-change-request` and note any change whose window covers the alerts (expected noise during a change).
* Check the maintenance field: alerts in maintenance are expected.

**Step 4: Classify each group**

* Real fault: Critical or Major, Production, not in maintenance, no covering change.
* Change-related: a change window covers it.
* Noise: Warning or Minor only, many repeats of one metric, or in maintenance.
* Already handled: every alert has a task.

**Step 5: Report**

A table ranked Real fault first: CI or node, environment, support-group, alert count, highest severity, metric names, first seen, classification, existing task. End with the alert numbers that should become incidents; the raise-incident-from-alert prompt does that one alert at a time.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Read-only. Do not call `servicenow-update-alert`, `servicenow-add-incident`, `servicenow-add-alert` or any other add- or update- tool.

**Validation:**

* If there are no unacknowledged alerts, say so. If the pull hit 500, say it was capped.

How it works

What PopdockAI does when you ask

You give a lookback period, and your AI assistant groups and classes the open alerts. It only reads, so no alert is acknowledged.

01

Ask

You name a lookback period, and optionally a severity.

Your AI tool

02

Group

It reads open, unacknowledged alerts and groups them by CI or node.

03

Check

It looks at each CI's environment and any change window covering the alerts.
