The problem

A major donor misses the appeal because of a bad address

Bouncing emails in Mailchimp usually mean a wrong address in DonorPerfect, but nobody connects them until a major donor misses an appeal. Finding which donor holds each bad address, and where, means searching record by record.

Without PopdockAI

  • Export bounces from Mailchimp
  • Search DonorPerfect for each address
  • Check additional address records too
  • Fix small donors before big ones

With PopdockAI

  • Bounces are grouped by email with type and count
  • Each address is found on a donor or additional address
  • Hard and repeated soft bounces are ranked by giving
  • Single soft bounces are left out, read-only

Prompt
**Objective:** Find DonorPerfect donors whose email address bounced in Mailchimp campaigns over the last `{lookback-days}` days (default 30), so staff can correct or remove the address in DonorPerfect.

**Step 1: Read the bounces**

Call `mailchimp-get-campaign-email-activity` with `action` set to bounce and `activity-date.from` set to `{lookback-days}` days before today. Group by email, keeping the latest bounce date, its `bounce-type` (hard or soft) and how many campaigns bounced.

**Step 2: Match to donors**

For each email, call `donorperfect-get-donor` with `email`, then `donorperfect-get-address` with `email` to catch addresses held on an additional address record. Note which record holds the email (main donor record or an address id and its address type).

**Step 3: Add giving context**

For each matched donor, use `gift-total`, `year-to-date` and `last-contribution-amount` from the donor record.

**Step 4: Report**

Two tables: hard bounces first, then soft bounces that bounced in two or more campaigns. Columns: donor id, name, email, where the email is held, bounce type, latest bounce date, bounce count, gift total, year to date, last contribution amount. Sort by gift total descending, so the most valuable donors with a bad address come first. Finish with the count of bouncing emails that matched no donor.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `mailchimp-get-campaign-email-activity` is on the mailchimp server. `donorperfect-get-donor` and `donorperfect-get-address` are on the donorperfect server.
* This is read-only. Do NOT call `donorperfect-save-address`, `donorperfect-save-donor`, `donorperfect-set-flag` or `mailchimp-update-list-member`.
* A single soft bounce is usually temporary: leave it out of the report.

**Validation:**

* If there are no bounces in the window, say so and stop.
* If no bouncing email matches a donor, report the count and stop.
