The problem

A household link to the wrong Whitfield

Linking household members in DonorPerfect sounds simple, but it is easy to pick the wrong donor with a common surname or record a relationship that already exists the other way round. Untangling a wrong link takes longer than making it.

Without PopdockAI

  • Search for both donors by surname
  • Guess which record is the right one
  • Miss an existing link in the other direction
  • Untangle the mistake later

With PopdockAI

  • Each donor is identified, stopping on no match or several
  • The relationship code is checked against valid codes
  • Existing links are checked in both directions
  • The link is saved after you confirm, then read back

Prompt
**Objective:** Link `{donor-name}` to `{linked-donor-name}` with relationship code `{link-code}`, after confirming both donors and checking the link does not already exist.

**Step 1: Identify both donors**

Call `donorperfect-get-donor` twice, once with `last-name.contains` set from `{donor-name}` and once from `{linked-donor-name}`. Use `first-name.contains` as well where a first name is given.

If either lookup returns nothing or more than one match, list what you found and stop. Record both `donor-id` values and keep them straight: the first is the donor, the second is the linked donor.

**Step 2: Validate the relationship code**

Call `donorperfect-get-code` filtered on the link field and confirm `{link-code}` exists. If it does not, list the valid relationship codes and ask which to use. Do not invent one.

**Step 3: Check for an existing link**

Call `donorperfect-get-link` filtered by the first `donor-id`. If a link to the second donor already exists, show it with its code and stop. Do not create a second link between the same pair.

Also call `donorperfect-get-link` filtered by the second `donor-id`, since the link may have been recorded in the other direction.

**Step 4: Confirm, then write**

State the link in full: both donor names with their ids, the relationship code and its description, and which direction it runs. Ask the user to confirm.

Only after confirmation, call `donorperfect-save-link` once, with no `link-id`.

**Step 5: Verify**

Call `donorperfect-get-link` filtered by the first `donor-id` and report the stored link.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `donorperfect-save-link` is the only write tool this prompt may call, once, after confirmation.
* Direction matters. Do not swap the two donors to make a code fit.
* If the user asks for the reciprocal link as well, treat it as a separate confirmed write and say so before doing it.

**Validation:**

* If either name is ambiguous, stop. Linking the wrong donor is hard to unpick.
* If a link already exists with a different code, report both and ask before changing anything.
