The problem

A month of campaign reports copied by hand

Reporting on a month of campaigns means opening each Mailchimp report, copying numbers into a spreadsheet and working out weighted rates. Campaigns with abuse reports or high bounces slip by when you only look at averages.

Without PopdockAI

  • Open every campaign report in the period
  • Copy sends, opens and clicks into a spreadsheet
  • Work out weighted rates by hand
  • Miss campaigns with abuse reports or high bounces

With PopdockAI

  • Every campaign in the window is read and totalled
  • Open and click rates are weighted by emails sent
  • Best, worst and top earning campaigns are ranked
  • Problem campaigns are flagged and nothing is changed

Prompt
**Objective:** Report on every Mailchimp campaign sent in the last {lookback-days} days (default 30), for the audience {list-name} if one is given (default all audiences), and point out what needs attention.

**Step 1: Collect the campaigns**

Work out the start date as today minus the lookback. Call `mailchimp-get-report` with `send-date.from` set to that date, `list-name` if one was given, and `max-records` set to 200. If exactly 200 come back, say the report may be incomplete.

**Step 2: Totals and ranking**

* Total campaigns, emails sent, unique opens, clicks, unsubscribes, abuse reports and revenue.
* Overall open rate and click rate, weighted by emails sent (not a plain average of the rates).
* The 3 best and 3 worst campaigns by click rate, ignoring campaigns sent to fewer than 100 people.
* The top 3 campaigns by total revenue, if any campaign has revenue.

**Step 3: Flags**

List every campaign with any abuse report, a hard bounce rate (hard-bounces / emails-sent) above 2%, or an unsubscribe rate (unsubscribed / emails-sent) above 0.5%.

**Step 4: Audience growth**

If a list-name was given, call `mailchimp-get-list-growth` with `list-name` and report subscribed, unsubscribed and cleaned for the months that overlap the period.

**Step 5: Report**

* A 2 to 3 sentence summary.
* The totals from Step 2.
* A table of all campaigns: campaign-title, send-date, list-name, emails sent, open rate, click rate, unsubscribes, revenue, sorted by send-date.
* The best, worst and revenue lists.
* The flagged campaigns, each with the reason.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Read only. Do not call `mailchimp-add-list-member`, `mailchimp-update-list-member`, `mailchimp-add-segment-member`, `mailchimp-add-customer`, `mailchimp-update-customer`, `mailchimp-update-product`, `mailchimp-update-order`, `mailchimp-replicate-campaign`, `mailchimp-start-automation` or `mailchimp-pause-automation`.
* Rates are returned as fractions (0.25 means 25%). Show them as percentages.
* Do not draw a trend from fewer than 3 campaigns. Say there are too few to compare.

**Validation:**

* If no campaigns were sent in the period, say so and give the date of the most recent campaign from `mailchimp-get-campaign` with `status` set to `sent`.
* If the list-name matches no report, call `mailchimp-get-list` with `name.contains` and suggest the closest audience names.
