The problem

Range wide price changes drift and fall below cost

A price change across a product range means editing every HubSpot product, working out each new price and checking none falls below cost. By hand it takes ages, rounding drifts, and below cost prices go unnoticed.

Without PopdockAI

  • Find every product in the range
  • Work out each new price on a calculator
  • Check each one against unit cost
  • Edit products one at a time

With PopdockAI

  • Matching products with a price are found
  • Each new price is worked out and rounded to two decimals
  • Prices below unit cost are flagged
  • You review before and after, and only the price changes

The prompt

Use this prompt

Prompt
**Objective:** Change the price of products matching `{product-filter}` by `{percent-change}` percent (for example 5 or -10), rounding to 2 decimal places.

**Step 1: Find the products**

Call `hubspot-get-products` with `name.contains` = `{product-filter}`. If that returns nothing, retry with `product-type` = `{product-filter}`, then with `folder` = `{product-filter}`. Drop products with no `unit-price`. If none remain, say so and stop.

**Step 2: Calculate**

For each product compute the new price = unit-price x (1 + `{percent-change}` / 100). Flag any product whose new price would fall below its `unit-cost`.

**Step 3: Confirm**

Show a table: name, SKU, current price, new price, unit cost, flag. Wait for an explicit yes. The user may exclude rows.

**Step 4: Update**

Call `hubspot-update-product` once per confirmed product with `id` = its record-id and `price` = the new price. Change nothing else.

**Step 5: Report**

Count the products updated and list any failures. Note that existing deal and quote line items keep their old prices; only new line items use the new price.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Only `hubspot-update-product` may write, once per confirmed product, after Step 3.
* Do NOT call any other write tool: no other hubspot-add, hubspot-update, hubspot-rename, hubspot-remove, hubspot-subscribe, hubspot-unsubscribe or hubspot-import tool.

**Validation:**

* `{percent-change}` must be a number between -90 and 200. Otherwise ask again and stop.
* Never update more than 100 products in one run.
