The problem

Starting every monitor by hand before a release

Before or after a release you want every monitor for an API to run now. By hand you find each monitor, skip the paused ones and start them one by one, and it is easy to miss one or run the wrong environment.

Without PopdockAI

  • Find every monitor for the collection
  • Skip the paused ones
  • Start each one by hand
  • Run the wrong environment by mistake

With PopdockAI

  • Every monitor for the collection is found
  • They are filtered to your environment and split into active and paused
  • You confirm, with a second check above five monitors
  • Each active monitor starts once, and paused ones never run

Prompt
**Objective:** Trigger an immediate run of the active monitors for collection `{collection-name}`, limited to environment `{environment-name}` when given.

**Step 1: Resolve the collection**

Call `postman-get-collections` with `name` = `{collection-name}` (fall back to `name.contains`). If more than one matches, list them and ask which. Keep collection-uid.

**Step 2: Find its monitors**

Call `postman-get-monitors` with `collection-uid`. If `{environment-name}` is given, call `postman-get-environments` with `name` = `{environment-name}` and keep only monitors whose environment-uid matches. Split the monitors into active and paused.

**Step 3: Confirm**

List the active monitors that will run (name, environment). List paused ones separately and say they will be skipped. Ask the user to confirm the run. Running more than five monitors at once needs an explicit second confirmation.

**Step 4: Run**

For each confirmed active monitor, call `postman-run-monitor` once with its `monitor-id`. Run them one at a time and record success or the error for each.

**Step 5: Report**

A table of monitor, environment and whether the run was triggered. Explain that this server cannot read run results; the user should check the monitor's results in Postman.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* Never run a paused monitor. Never call `postman-run-monitor` twice for the same monitor in one session.
* Do NOT call `postman-update-monitor`, `postman-add-monitor` or any other write tool.

**Validation:**

* If the collection has no monitors, say so and point to the schedule-collection-monitor prompt.
* If every monitor is paused, report that and stop without running anything.

Who it's for

One answer, three teams that use it

Release engineers

Smoke test after a deploy

Run every active monitor for an API straight after release, in one request.

Run the Postman monitors for the Orders API collection in Production.

QA engineers

Check staging before sign-off

Run only the monitors for one environment, with paused ones left alone.

Run the Staging monitors for the Payments API collection.

On-call engineers

Check an API after an incident

Trigger every active check at once to see whether the fix holds.

Run all active monitors for the Auth API collection now.

How it works

What PopdockAI does when you ask

You name the collection, and an environment if you like, and your AI assistant shows which monitors will run. It starts them only after you confirm and lists what was triggered.
