The problem

No way to tell which abandoned carts came back

Mailchimp tracks abandoned carts but cannot say which shoppers later bought in Shopify. You chase people who already ordered, and matching carts to orders by hand is too slow to do every week.

Without PopdockAI

  • Export abandoned carts from Mailchimp
  • Search Shopify orders for each shopper email
  • Rule out canceled orders by hand
  • Guess the recovery rate

With PopdockAI

  • Carts since your start date are read from Mailchimp
  • Each is matched to a later uncancelled Shopify order by email
  • Carts are classed recovered, not recovered or unknown
  • Nothing is sent to shoppers and nothing is changed

Prompt
**Objective:** For abandoned carts in Mailchimp created on or after `{cart-created-from}` (default: 30 days before today) with a total of at least `{min-cart-total}` (default 0), find out from Shopify which shoppers went on to place an order and which did not.

**Step 1: Open carts in Mailchimp**

Call `mailchimp-get-cart` with `created-at-date.from` = `{cart-created-from}` and `order-total.min` = `{min-cart-total}` if given. Keep `cart-id`, `customer-email`, `customer-first-name`, `customer-last-name`, `order-total`, `currency-code`, `created-at-date`, `campaign-id` and `checkout-url`.

**Step 2: Look for a later order in Shopify**

For each cart with a `customer-email`, call `shopify-get-order` with `email` = `customer-email` and `created-at.from` = the cart's `created-at-date`. If one or more orders come back and the order is not cancelled, mark the cart **recovered** and note the first `order-number`, `created-at` and `total-price`. If none, mark it **not recovered**. Carts without an email go into an **unknown** group.

**Step 3: Report**

* Counts and cart value by currency for recovered, not recovered and unknown, and the recovery rate.
* Recovered: shopper, cart total, order number, order total, days from cart to order. Note when the order total is well below the cart (partial recovery).
* Not recovered: shopper, email, cart total, cart age in days, whether a `campaign-id` is attached, sorted by cart total descending. These are the carts still worth chasing.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `mailchimp-*` tools are on the mailchimp server; `shopify-*` tools are on the shopify server.
* Match on email only, case-insensitive and trimmed.
* Read-only. Do NOT call `mailchimp-start-automation`, `mailchimp-add-segment-member`, `mailchimp-update-list-member` or any add or update tool on either server, and do not send anything to the shoppers.

**Validation:**

* If Mailchimp returns no carts, say so and stop.
* A cart still showing in Mailchimp while Shopify has a matching order means the Mailchimp cart was not cleared; say how many there are.
