The problem

Address requests in Zendesk land on the wrong orders

A customer writes into Zendesk with a new delivery address, and you have to copy it into the right Shopify order before it ships. Done carelessly, an address changes on an order the requester does not own, or on a parcel that has already left.

Without PopdockAI

  • Read the ticket and copy the address by hand
  • Search Shopify for the order and check who owns it
  • Check it has not shipped or gone to a fulfillment service
  • Remember to note the change on the ticket

With PopdockAI

  • The address comes from the requester's own latest comment
  • The order must belong to the requester and not have shipped
  • You confirm the address field by field before any update
  • A private note is added only when the update succeeds

Prompt
**Objective:** Read the new shipping address the requester of Zendesk ticket `{ticket-id}` asked for, and apply it to their Shopify order (order `{order-number}` if given) only if the order has not shipped and the user confirms. Then leave an internal note on the ticket.

**Step 1: Read the request**

Call `zendesk-get-ticket` filtered by ticket-id and note requester-name and requester-email. Call `zendesk-get-ticket-comment` filtered by ticket-id. Take the new address from the requester's most recent public comment, and the order number if `{order-number}` was not given.

Only use an address written by the requester. If an agent wrote it, or the comments give two different addresses, show both and ask which is right.

**Step 2: Find the order and check ownership**

Call `shopify-get-order` filtered by order-number, retrying with name set to # followed by the number. If you have no number, filter by email set to the requester-email and take the most recent unfulfilled order. If several qualify, list them and stop.

The order email must equal the requester-email, ignoring case. If it does not, stop and say the address cannot be changed from this ticket. Changing an address for someone who does not own the order is how parcels get stolen.

**Step 3: Check it is safe to change**

* If cancelled-at is set, stop and say the order is cancelled.
* Call `shopify-get-fulfillment` filtered by order-id. If any fulfillment exists, stop: it has shipped.
* Call `shopify-get-fulfillment-order` filtered by order-id. If a fulfillment order was submitted to or accepted by a fulfillment service, stop and say the warehouse must be contacted first.

**Step 4: Prepare and confirm**

Parse the address into first name, last name, address line 1, address line 2, city, province code, country code (two letters) and zip. If the country code or zip is missing, or a US or Canadian address has no province code, stop and say what to ask the customer for.

`shopify-update-order` needs the order as a Shopify GID. If the order-id is a plain number, use gid://shopify/Order/ followed by that number.

Show the user the ticket, the order name, the customer, and the new address field by field, and ask them to confirm.

**Step 5: Apply and record**

Only after the user confirms:

1. Call `shopify-update-order` once with order-id and the shipping fields (shipping-first-name, shipping-last-name, shipping-address1, shipping-address2, shipping-city, shipping-province-code, shipping-country-code, shipping-zip). Leave email, note and po-number out.
2. If that succeeded, call `zendesk-add-ticket-comment` once with ticket-id `{ticket-id}`, public false, and a body saying the shipping address on the order was updated, followed by the new address.

Report both results. Remind the user that the customer's saved addresses in Shopify were not changed, and that replying to the customer is still up to them.

**Rules & Guidelines:**

* `zendesk-get-ticket`, `zendesk-get-ticket-comment` and `zendesk-add-ticket-comment` are on the zendesk server. `shopify-get-order`, `shopify-get-fulfillment`, `shopify-get-fulfillment-order` and `shopify-update-order` are on the shopify server.
* The only write tools this prompt may call are `shopify-update-order` and then `zendesk-add-ticket-comment`, once each, after confirmation. The comment must be private.
* Do not call `shopify-update-customer-address`, `shopify-add-customer-address`, `shopify-update-customer` or `zendesk-update-ticket`.

**Validation:**

* If the Shopify update fails, report the error as returned, do not post the note, and do not retry with altered values.
* If the user does not confirm, change nothing.

Who it's for

One answer, three teams that use it

Support agents

Turn an address ticket into a fix

Apply the new address from the ticket in one step, with the note on the ticket added for you.

Ticket 52110 has a new shipping address. Apply it to the customer's open Shopify order.

Support team leads

Stop changes on orders the requester does not own

The order must match the requester's email, so a mistyped order number never redirects someone else's parcel.

Check that the order in ticket 50877 belongs to the requester and update its address if it has not shipped.

Fulfillment coordinators

Catch requests that arrive too late

Orders already shipped or with a fulfillment service are stopped, so you can tell the customer what to do instead.

Ticket 51432 wants a different delivery address. Has the Shopify order already gone to the fulfillment service?
