Log BugHerd bugs once, with the right severity and owner
For developers and QA teams who want to log a bug in BugHerd by describing it to their AI assistant.

The problem
The same bug gets logged twice, or left with nobody
Logging a bug in BugHerd by hand means searching the board and inbox for an existing report, then setting severity and finding the assignee. Skip the search and the bug is logged twice, and a mistyped email leaves the task with nobody.
Without PopdockAI
- Search the board and the feedback inbox for the same bug
- Pick a severity and type the assignee's email
- Log a duplicate when the search misses it
- Leave a task with nobody after a typo
With PopdockAI
- Tasks and feedback are searched for the same problem first
- You choose to comment on a match or log a new task
- The assignee is checked against real BugHerd users
- You confirm the task before it is created once
The prompt
Use this prompt

**Objective:** Log a bug in the BugHerd project `{project-name}` described as `{description}`, with severity `{severity}` (default normal) and assigned to `{assignee-email}` when given, without creating a duplicate.
**Step 1: Find the project**
Call `bugherd-get-projects` with `name.contains` set to `{project-name}`. If nothing matches, say so and stop. If more than one project matches, list their names and project-id values and ask which one is meant; do not guess. Use the matching project's project-id in every later call.
**Step 2: Look for duplicates**
Pick two or three distinctive words from the description and call `bugherd-get-tasks` and `bugherd-get-feedback` with `project-id` and `title.contains` for each word. If an open task clearly describes the same problem, show it (task number, title, status) and ask whether to log a new one anyway or add a comment to that task instead.
**Step 3: Check the assignee**
If `{assignee-email}` is given, call `bugherd-get-users` with `email` to confirm the person exists. If not found, say so and ask whether to leave the task unassigned.
**Step 4: Confirm, then create**
Show the project, description, severity and assignee you will use and wait for an explicit yes. Then call `bugherd-add-task` exactly once with `project-id`, `description`, `severity`, and `assignee-email` when given.
**Step 5: Report**
The task number and task-id returned, and the values used.
**Rules & Guidelines:**
* The only write tool this prompt may call is `bugherd-add-task`, once, after the user confirms.
* Severity must be one of not set, critical, important, normal or minor.
* Do not call `bugherd-add-feedback`: a bug logged by a team member goes straight onto the board.
**Validation:**
* If `bugherd-add-task` returns an error, show it and stop; do not retry with different values without asking.Who it's for
One answer, three teams that use it
Developers
Log a bug without leaving your work
Record a bug you just found in one message, with severity and owner set, without opening BugHerd.
Log a bug in the Contoso Portal BugHerd project: the search box ignores filters on mobile. Make it important and assign it to me, alex@contoso.com.
QA testers
Report bugs without duplicates
Each bug is checked against the board and inbox first, so you do not add a second copy of a known issue.
Add a bug to the Fabrikam Shop project: discount codes are not applied at checkout. Check it is not already logged.
Project managers
Log client issues with the right owner
Turn a client email into a task with the right severity and a real assignee straight away.
Log a critical bug in the Northwind Traders site project: the login page shows a blank screen. Assign it to sam@northwindtraders.com.
How it works
What PopdockAI does when you ask
You describe the bug and your AI assistant checks BugHerd for it before logging anything. Nothing is created until you have seen the task and said yes.
01
Ask
You describe the bug and name the project, severity and assignee.
02
Check
It searches the project's tasks and inbox for the same problem and confirms the assignee exists.
03
Confirm
You see the task it will create and say yes.
04
Create
It adds the task to the board once and gives you the task number.
