Prove your opening position matches at cutover
For controllers signing off a move to Sage Intacct who want the Dynamics GP trial balance tied out, by asking their AI assistant.

The problem
Proving the opening position at cutover takes days
Signing off a move from Dynamics GP to Sage Intacct needs proof that every account matches at cutover. That means adding GP balances differently by account type, rolling up segments and netting the Intacct ledger to the same date.
Without PopdockAI
- Add GP period balances differently for balance sheet and P and L
- Roll segmented accounts up to main accounts
- Net the Intacct ledger to the cutover date
- Compare in a spreadsheet and hunt for offsets
With PopdockAI
- GP balances are built the way each account requires
- Intacct ledger detail is netted to the same date
- Both sides are checked to net to zero first
- Differences come largest first, with offsets noted and nothing posted

**Objective:** Prove the Intacct opening position matches Dynamics GP at cutover: GP fiscal year `{fiscal-year}` through period `{period-id}` against Intacct through `{cutover-date}`, account by account.
**Step 1: GP balances**
Call `dynamics-gp-get-gl-account-summary` with `year` = `{fiscal-year}` (no `period-id` filter; filter locally). For each account:
* Balance sheet accounts (`posting-type` Balance Sheet): add `period-balance` for period 0 (the beginning balance) through `{period-id}`.
* Profit and Loss accounts: add `period-balance` for periods 1 through `{period-id}` (year to date).
Roll the results up by `main-account-segment`. Work in debit-positive amounts (debits positive, credits negative).
**Step 2: Intacct balances**
Call `intacct-get-account` to get each account's `account-type`. Then call `intacct-get-general-ledger-detail` per account (`account-number`), with `entry-date.to` = `{cutover-date}`:
* Balance sheet accounts: no start date.
* Income statement accounts: `entry-date.from` = the first day of the fiscal year. If `{fiscal-year}` is not a calendar year and the start date is not clear, ask the user for it.
Net `debit-amount` minus `credit-amount` per account.
**Step 3: Compare**
Pair GP main segment with Intacct `account-number` (exactly, then with leading zeros removed). Treat a difference under 0.01 as a match. First check that each side nets to zero overall; if one does not, say so before anything else, because the comparison below is then unreliable.
**Step 4: Report**
1. Totals: GP net, Intacct net, number of accounts matched, number different, number unmapped.
2. Differences, largest first: account, description, GP balance, Intacct balance, difference (GP minus Intacct).
3. Accounts with a GP balance but no Intacct account, and Intacct accounts with a balance but no GP segment.
4. If the differences net to zero and sit in one or two accounts, say that it looks like an offset posted to a clearing or retained earnings account.
**Rules & Guidelines:**
* Tools prefixed dynamics-gp- are on the dynamics-gp MCP server. Tools prefixed intacct- are on the intacct MCP server. Both servers must be connected; if a tool from either is missing, say which server is not connected and stop.
* Pass `{gp-company}` as `company` on every dynamics-gp- call (empty means the default GP company). Use the default Intacct company; if the Intacct side holds several entities and it is not clear which one received this GP company, ask before starting.
* Set `max-records` high (5000) on every list read. If a read returns exactly that many rows, say the result may be truncated and narrow the filter (per account, per vendor, per customer or per item) instead of reporting totals from it.
* Read only. Do NOT call `intacct-create-journal-entry`, `intacct-update-journal-entry` or `dynamics-gp-gl-account-transaction-add`. To correct a difference, use the post-conversion-balance-adjustment prompt.
**Validation:**
* If GP has no summaries for `{fiscal-year}`, list the years it does have and stop.
* If an account has so many Intacct lines that a read truncates, split it by month and add the months.
* Never compare GP full segmented account numbers against Intacct accounts directly; always roll up to the main segment first.Who it's for

Controllers
Sign off the cutover with evidence
Totals and every difference largest first give you a clear proof that the opening balances match.
Tie the Dynamics GP trial balance to Sage Intacct at our 31 December cutover.
Migration accountants
Spot a clearing account offset
When differences look like an offset in one clearing account, it says so, saving a long hunt.
Why does the Dynamics GP trial balance not tie to Intacct at 30 June? Is it a clearing offset?
External auditors
Review the migration tie-out
An account by account comparison with one sided accounts listed supports the audit of the opening balances.
Show accounts that exist in only one of Dynamics GP or Sage Intacct at cutover, with balances.
How it works
What PopdockAI does when you ask
You give the GP fiscal year, period and cutover date, and your AI assistant builds both sides and compares them. It never compares full segmented numbers directly, and posts nothing.
01
Ask
You give the GP fiscal year and period and the cutover date.
02
Build
It builds GP balances by main segment the way each account requires.
03
Compare
It nets Sage Intacct ledger detail to the same date and checks both net to zero.
04
Report
You get differences largest first and accounts on one side only.
