Explain what moved a Sage Intacct GL account
For accountants who need to explain a surprising account balance, with the entries worth a second look, by asking their AI assistant.

The problem
A surprising account balance and no quick way to explain it
When a GL account moves more than expected, working out why means scrolling ledger detail in Sage Intacct, grouping it in a spreadsheet and comparing with last period. Manual entries, reversing accruals and duplicates are easy to miss.
Without PopdockAI
- Scroll the ledger detail for the account
- Group entries by vendor or journal in a spreadsheet
- Compare with last period by hand
- Miss the manual entry or reversing accrual
With PopdockAI
- Ledger detail read for the period and the one before
- Movement broken down by journal, counterparty, department and project
- Manual entries traced to the other side, source documents pulled
- Reversing accruals called out as temporary, nothing changed

**Objective:** Explain what moved GL account `{account}` between {start-date} and {end-date} (defaults: the first day of the current month to today): what drove it, how it compares with the prior period, and which entries deserve a second look.
**Step 1: Identify the account**
If the account was given as a number, call `intacct-get-account` with `account-number`. Otherwise call it with `title.contains`. If several accounts match, list them and stop. Note `normal-balance`, `account-type`, `category` and `disallow-direct-posting`.
**Step 2: Pull the activity**
Call `intacct-get-general-ledger-detail` with `account-number`, `entry-date.from`, `entry-date.to` and `reporting-method` (accrual unless the user says otherwise; rows repeat per method, so never mix them). Then make the same call for the period of equal length immediately before.
Net movement = `debit-amount` minus `credit-amount`, with the sign flipped for credit-balance accounts.
**Step 3: Break it down**
* By `journal`, to separate subledger postings (AP, AR, cash) from manual entries.
* By `vendor-name` or `customer-name`, then by `department-name` and `project-name`.
* The ten largest rows by amount.
* Against the prior period: counterparties that are new, those that grew most, and those that disappeared.
**Step 4: Trace the notable entries**
* For a manual entry, call `intacct-get-journal-entry` with its `transaction-number` for `description`, `created-date`, `state`, `automatic-reversal-date` and `reversed-from`. Then call `intacct-get-journal-entry-line` with the same `transaction-number` to see the other side of the entry.
* An entry with an `automatic-reversal-date` is an accrual that reverses next period. Say that part of the movement is temporary.
* Where `document-number` looks like a bill or invoice number, call `intacct-get-bill` with `bill-number` or `intacct-get-invoice` with `invoice-number` for the source document.
**Step 5: Report**
1. A one-sentence headline: the net movement, the change against the prior period, and the main driver.
2. Movement table for this period and the prior one: debits, credits, net, row count.
3. Drivers, largest first, with amount and share of the movement.
4. Entries worth a second look, with transaction numbers and why: manual entries to an account where `disallow-direct-posting` is true, same-amount entries that look duplicated, large manual entries at period end with no reversal, and anything far out of line with the prior period.
**Rules & Guidelines:**
* This prompt is read-only. Do not call `intacct-create-journal-entry`, `intacct-update-journal-entry`, `intacct-update-account` or any other create or update tool.
* Call entries "worth checking", never "errors". The ledger does not record intent.
* Pass dates as YYYY-MM-DD. If the user names an Intacct company, pass it as `company` on every call.
**Validation:**
* If the account is not found, try `title.contains` once with a shorter part of the name, then stop.
* If there is no activity in the period, say so, give the prior period's net for context, and stop.
* If a GL call returns exactly `max-records` rows, say the totals are incomplete and suggest a shorter range.Who it's for
